C25K Week 3 Run 1, Weigh In and 30 Day Shred
4/18/2012Yesteray was the start of week 3 of the c25k plan. I was feeling good about this week after attempting to run 3 minutes last week. I got ready, put the next podcast on my phone and set off.
The week 3 plan consists of:
- Brisk 5 min warmup walk
- 90 seconds running
- 90 seconds of walking
- 3 minutes of running
- 3 minutes of walking
- 90 seconds running
- 90 seconds of walking
- 3 minutes of running
- 3 minutes of walking
It was only until I got down to the river and knew that the running was abut to come that I started to feel nervous, thinking "what if I can't do it now, what if last week was a one off?" I tried to clear those thoughts from my mind. Did my first 90 seconds run and walk and awaited instructions to start my 3 minute run.
I started, went at my own pace, tried to keep it slow and steady, breathing was fine, Laura said I was already half way through and I was still ok. Got to about 2 and a half mins and was starting to feel it, I had to slow down, tried to time my breathing. Then I was done! My first 3 minute run. Probably won't seem like a lot to some people but this was great for me. The rest of the run was great and was fairly easy. Got to my last walk and my boyfriend met up with me.
I was telling him how it was so much easier than the previous 2 weeks, I could have kept running but wanted to stick to the plan so I didn't. We got down to the main road off from the river, we were a couple of streets away from home and I got the sudden urge to run the rest of the way back.
I ran an extra 2 minutes back home. I felt fab! I feel that this week is going to be a good one. I've decided that seeing as that run was fairly easy, I'm going to try running everyday. I'm probably tempting fate and it will be harder. However, with all the crap weather here at the moment with t raining all the time, I figure I'm still only going to get 4 runs in. The rain will stop me at some point.
So for anyone that is currently doing or is just starting out and is struggling, keep fighting! It gets easier and your body is a miraculous thing, it can do much more than you think it can.
Onto my next subject, weigh in. Not much to say about this. Didn't loose anything this week. I maintained. I can't say I'm not disappointed that I haven't lost, but I need to keep in mind that I lost almost 4lbs last week so technically last week makes up for this week.
Lastly, the dreaded 30 day shred I ranted about so much. I have decided to give this another go. I am STILL reading about people and seeing people's results fr this damn DVD and wondering why the hell I didn't get the same results r similar. Maybe I wasn't trying too hard?(pretty sure i was though, heart was beating way fast, sweating like a b***h) I'm not too sure why it hasn't had the same effect for me, but m gonna try again anyway even if I didn't like it.
I started the shred again today and it wasn't too bad, some of the exercises were bloody hard just like I remember. I can no longer do a semi-decent baby pushup which sucks. Will have to work on that. Sme of the exercises ousted higher weights than. Did the first time I did the shred, other exercises I used weights when they didnt such as the punches.
I wil just have to see what happens this time round and hopefully this coupled with my c25k running will give me some better results. Fingers crossed!
