Training Diary // Run Hackney 2016 // Week 1 Recap

4/04/2016

So, I'm one week down into training for Run Hackney, I'm now in week two. The first week was a little slow and a little inconvenient. You may have seen my post last week on my plan for training, if not, please do!

The beginning of the week was really annoying! Basically, long story short, the bedroom with the en suite bathroom was un-accessible in the morning for the beginning of the week. The upstairs bathroom has no shower only a bath.. and I HATE BATHS!

So, My first run ended up being Friday. I wanted to do a minimum of 3 runs this week, so ended up running 3 days in a row.. you can find em below!

Like I said, I managed 3 runs this week. a 2 miler on Friday - it was supposed to be intervals and ended up being a relatively rushed, faster run. Managed under 10 min/mi for 2 miles which I was fairly happy about.

Saturday usually isn't a run day, but I needed to get in another run. Planned on doing 3 as we'd been out all day and only got out to run at about 5 PM, ended up finding Phillip at around 2.5 miles and he made me run an extra half mile! -_-

Sunday I knew I had to get a long run in, I really wasn't feeling it, it took a lot of effort to get out of the door, my legs were really tired and sluggish after already running 2 days prior(my legs don't fair well without rest!). I managed to push through and get all 8 miles done. Slow.. but still 8 miles, so I'm happy!

As always, the above is a rough-ish guide for training next week. I really want to be able to do the 4 runs this week, there's no reason why I shouldn't!

I definitely want to keep Saturday free as running the day before long run day really doesn't go so well as they need the break! Preferably the same for intervals too. I'll be upping my Sunday Long Runs by 1 mile every week leading up to race day, which works out nicely.

I'm sure that runs will be swapped around, I'm already thinking about whether or not I should swap tues and weds.. I'll see what happens tomorrow. For now I'm off swimming!

Question: Do you like having baths? Runners - How long do you usually do interval runs for? 15-20 mins or longer?
