Training Diary // Run Hackney 2016 // Week 4 Recap

4/25/2016

I've only 2 weeks until race day! This week has been an OK week given the circumstances. My motivation has seriously dwindled, I have been feeling quite tired, lethargic and don't feel like getting out of bed but yet the runs I have done have surprised me and haven't been too bad!

On Weds, I went out for a run with Phillip's mum. We went out for a 5.4 mile run and ran mostly off-road.  The weather has been really deceiving recently and whilst it was really cold and frosty when we first started running but I was absolutely boiling about 2 miles in! I think t-shirts are the way forward, no jackets. Unless of course it's raining!

On Friday, I did 2 faster miles. I really didn't want to go out but figured something was better than nothing and the run ended up 9:09 min/mi which is pretty darn fast for me compared to usual! If only I could run that pace for 13.1, huh? ;)

Sunday, I had 11 miles on the cards. I got up early, put off the run for quite a while and then headed out. I always get nervous that I wont be able to complete my set mileage when I go out but it actually wasn't so bad!

I actually vlogged my 11 mile training run! If you'd like to see what happens on a typical run(except for stopping to take clips, I would usually just keep running), then you can see that below!

I've planned to go out with Phillips mum tomorrow so that I definitely get out for a longer run this week. I may end up going out with her again on Weds, but otherwise I will do 2-3 miles instead.

Since this is the last week before race week, I have no longer runs(8+) this week and I start tapering. I'll be fitting in a shorter, faster run on Friday and ending the week with a 6 miler.

Part of me is glad that I'm coming to the end of half marathon training. I really can't say that I enjoy the longer runs! I'm not sure if I will do anymore half marathons this year or whether we will switch to 10K races. Our local half will be some time later in the year, so I'll see how I feel for that!

Question: What is your favourite race distance? Do you prefer to run solo or with others?
