30.MINUTE.RUN
5/31/2012I was discussing when I was going to do my run yesterday. I decided not to do it in the morning and decided to run after work and after I'd eaten.
After we'd eaten, me and my boyfriend went upstairs to let food settle. At this point, the rain started lashing it down! My boyfriend asked me whether I was still going to run. I replied 'Not if it keeps raining like this, if its drizzling I will'. The rain carried on for at least 20minutes and I was getting more and more disappointed that I might not be able to do my run.
Fortunately enough, the rain eased off and I decided to just get out whilst the rain had stopped. I'm thankful I got out to do my run yesterday because I RAN 30 MINUTES WITHOUT STOPPING. I am MAJORLY proud of myself, I'm on a runners high that I've heard about when you run your first proper long distance.
I had a smile on my face for the rest of the night. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for this morning, my legs are SORE AS HELL. I can hardly walk. Although I'm proud of my 30minute run last night, this sucks!
So for all of you that are new to running and are not sure whether you'd be able to run any further, IF I CAN DO IT, YOU CAN DO IT! I was in that situation before too. I remember just starting the C25K and being nervous as hell about running for 60seconds.
When I was doing the first ever run interval, I remember getting to 30seconds and feeling like I REALLY couldn't go any longer. Perseverance pays off. I kept going at it. I ran the 23minutes on Tuesday. My goal was to keep increasing by a minute or two each time I did my run. I went further than that. I made it my goal last night to not stop until I got to 30minutes, I'm paying for that today with my legs but it was worth it!
I think my total running was like 31 and a half minutes but lets just say 30. For anyone doing the c25k and for those especially on week 4 and 5 with the last runs, I know the gap from 8-10minutes to 20-25minutes seems ridiculous but PUSH YOURSELF. You can do it!
I'm going back to my mums/dads for Jubilee weekend. I fully intend to stay on track with diet and exercise. In fact, I'm probably going to be putting in a majority of my time into helping my mother and sister with diet and exercise plans similar to what I have been doing as they want to lose weight too.
Im going to make sure to take my running stuff with me and I will make sure I run at my mums house, I know around the area from living there for so long, I'm sure I will find somewhere to run.
On another and more serious note. I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to my boyfriend who has been so supportive of me during my weight loss and running journey. I know you don't think you have don much supporting but trust me, I couldn't have done this without you. I LOVE YOU!
I'd also like to say a massive thank you to my MFP family who have been there to support me and give me tips.
On a HUGE POSITIVE NOTE! My boyfriends mum is back from her holiday tonight and will be home tomorrow. Yayayayay! I've hated this week looking after the zoo! Its been SO much hard work and Im knackered.
Anyway, Enough of my rambling for one day, hope everyone is having a good week so far. Until next time! x
