About Laura

My name is Laura and I'm 25. I live in Cambridge in the UK. For my full time job I'm a Test Engineer. I live with my partner and we have a furbaby called Kia.

Here on my blog, you'll find I write about a lot of things including my life, weight loss and maintenance, my fitness journey, running, yoga and general health and fitness topics.

I thought it would be appropriate to let you know a bit about me by sharing my story.

I'd been quite overweight for as long as I can remember. I gained weight quite quickly at the end of Primary school and always remember being the biggest girl at school. I continued to gain weight throughout, high school and college until I seemed to reach a sort-of plateau at University.
In February of 2011, I finally decided enough was enough and began my weight loss journey. When I finally plucked up the courage to weigh myself, I weighed in at 258 lbs and I was horrified by the number I saw but it only  spurred me on more to continue my journey to get to a healthier weight and lead a healthier lifestyle.

I changed my eating habits, ate smaller portions and considered the foods that I was putting in my mouth. I also started to exercise. I started off using the Kinect on Xbox doing fitness games, I bought myself a cross trainer and was consistently doing exercise everyday. When I got closer to my goal weight, I started running and doing Yoga to help reach my goal weight.

In 2013, after a hard struggle over 2 years, I was down 120 lbs, got to my goal weight in November and started to maintain my weight.
Unfortunately, after losing 120 lbs, I was left with a lot of loose skin around my abdomen and breasts and no matter how hard I worked, there was no change in the skin. I had Cosmetic Surgery in April of 2014 to remove the loose skin with a Tummy Tuck and Breast Uplift.

After some surgery complications and a couple of months of minimal activity, I gained some weight which has become difficult to shift. I am currently in the process of trying to re-lose about 10 lbs to get back down to my pre-surgery weight.

I hope that this blog can serve as some motivation or inspiration to someone looking to lead a healthier lifestyle.
