Review // The Yoga Collective
4/11/2015
For full disclosure purposes, I received a one year subscription to The Yoga Collective for free in return for an honest review. I am not being paid to talk or advertise their website. All opinions of the product are my own.
It will come as no surprise to you when I say that I'm quite a big yoga fan. If you're following me on Instagram especially, you'll see daily yoga photos from me. It allows me to zone out after a stressful day and allows me to focus on me. That and it goes hand in hand with running and yoga has been a fantastic way for me to stretch and relax my muscles.
A few weeks back I was asked if I wanted to try The Yoga Collective free for a year. As someone that does all of their yoga in the comfort of their own home, the website sounded like an amazing place to be able to take a yoga class without having to go out!
ABOUT THE YOGA COLLECTIVE
The Yoga Collective is a Yoga Studio in Venice Beach, CA. They have a wide variety of yoga teachers for all sorts of classes. The Yoga Collective also have a website where they have a plethora of online yoga classes to take.
All the videos on their website are shot in their studio and are done VERY well. The environment is clean, inviting and soothing to the eye. All the videos are in HD and the sound is clear so there are no issues with hearing instructions.
The Yoga Collective strongly believe in Karma Yoga. In the spirit of giving they donate 50% of their profits to Charity!
WEBSITE
The website itself is SO easy to navigate and find the classes for you. Classes are sorted into different categories so it's easy to find something specific that takes your fancy. If you want to have a class on arm balances, that's there, yoga classes targeting different areas of the body like hips and core. It's all there!
There's also a great search section on the site where you can make searches based on your Level, the duration of the class you want to take, what style of yoga, or what part you want to focus on.
CLASSES
I'm used to doing online yoga classes for practice and classes but didn't know what to expect when I joined The Yoga Collective. I was surprised at just HOW much content there is available. There's over 100 yoga classes/videos to choose from which is perfect as I usually repeat videos I've done in the past. This gives me more variety.
I've tried a few classes so far including the Mini Core Flow with Mary Beth LaRue, The Bedtime Flow with Shayna Hiller and also Release The Hamstrings with Steve Jones(which was great after a long run to help stretch out tight legs!).
The videos either have a teacher/demonstration or a class structure to the videos. All instructions are very clear, videos are very high quality and filmed very well.
There are a couple of free yoga videos on the website for people to try out. They also have a free 15 day trial if you want to try out the website and find out if it's for you.
PRICE
In terms of the price for joining The Yoga Collective, the options are below:
That works out at £8 a month in the UK or £88 for the year. The Yoga Collective is perfect for those that prefer to workout/do yoga in the comfort of their own home. Possibly for those with busy schedules that don't have the time to get to a yoga class.
It also perfect for those that travel! As long as you have an internet connection, you can access the website to play the videos wherever you are and still be able to get in your yoga practice!
I've never been to a yoga class or any sort of workout class before but I know the sorts of prices that people pay to go to classes and just a general look at yoga classes online shows classes ranging from £5 upwards for a single class. For that you can get a months worth of classes!

ReplyDeleteA great give away. I'd like to win because like you, I've lost a lot of weight (currently 5 stone, with 2 to go) and would like to tone up some :)
ReplyDelete@Jen Morris Wow! Fantastic achievement, congratulations on your weight loss! Good Luck! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm moving all over the country for the latter half of this year and won't have a gym to go to, so this would be awesome for still getting some form of movement in while I'm on the run! :O
ReplyDelete@Farrah Sounds like an exciting but busy year for you. TYC sounds perfect for you! Good Luck! :)
ReplyDeleteMy GP and Physio have recommended Yoga to help with my arthritis, but I cannot go to any of the classes run locally as they are all too late in the evening for me, so the flexibility of this would be perfect.
ReplyDelete@Jodie Sounds great Jodie. Yoga is amazing and can be quite low impact so it sounds perfect. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to practice yoga to improve flexibility and strength for running.

ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review and giveaway! I love practicing yoga almost daily so this would work well with my routine, and it'd be nice to review on my blog too!
Besma (Curiously Conscious)
The Yoga Collective sounds great! One of the main reasons I don't practice yoga as often as I should, is because I struggle to fit a visit to a yoga class into my schedule, which is already busy with other regular classes and training! So classes that I could do at home at any convenient time would be amazing.
ReplyDelete@Besma | Curiously Conscious Sounds like this would be the perfect opportunity for you to have more options for yoga! Good Luck, Honey! x
ReplyDelete@Steph Robinson Yes! The Yoga Collective is perfect for if you've a busy schedule as you can just pop onto the website rather than having to make extra time for travel. Good Luck! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura, that's so sweet of you to say! x
ReplyDeleteMy doc has recommended Yoga as a way to get fit after problems with my knee that are now operated on and resolved xx
ReplyDelete@Ruth Harwood Yoga is a fantastic form of low impact exercise whilst still getting the benefits of being able to tone and strengthen your body. Good Luck! x
ReplyDeleteI love my yoga, and have been practicing for over a year now. I love the idea of the Yoga Collective, so that I could bring my practice home properly!
ReplyDeleteI have never done Yoga before so would be a great insight and can exercise from home
ReplyDeleteYoga where you want it, when you want it - great idea!
ReplyDeleteSince damaging my back last year (through sleeping, of all things!! It was a soft bed on holiday, and I spent the rest of the holiday barely able to move, gutting) I have been in physio sessions for about 6 months now.
ReplyDeleteI used to play a wide variety of sports - tennis, swimming, snowboarding, yoga, the whole works. Since my injury, I've been needing to take it slowly and develop a better awareness of what body is trying to tell me.
I've been looking for a good yoga class, with mixed results so far. So this prize would really help me to get back on track with rehabbing my back, and help me shift the extra pounds I've put on since last summer.
I love yoga but sadly no classes in the area at the right time for me!
ReplyDelete@Emma Sounds like it would be perfect for you :) It's definitely helped to switch up my yoga practice at home. Good Luck! x
ReplyDelete@kim neville This would be perfect for you then! There are lots of different levels including beginners so this would be a good starting point for you. Good Luck! x
ReplyDelete@Sarah Franks That sounds awful! I've heard a lot of good things about doing yoga when you have back pain/other injuries and how it helps to alleviate pain. I hope you start feeling better soon! Good luck with the giveaway, it sounds like it would really help you out!
ReplyDelete@jo1h This would be perfect for you then! There's so many different classes and even duration on TYC for people to take which makes it SO convenient for those who are short on time or can't travel for classes. Good Luck! x
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was really terrifying, Laura - I've known a few people suffer badly from slipped discs, so I was really worried it might be something like that. Fortunately, the diagnosis was that it was due to my back compensating for really tight hamstrings and hip flexors, with my abs being weakened by the tightness there taking a lot of the workload on. Then, the hardest thing for me was coming from a sporty background, I naturally try to push myself in fitness sessions, whereas with rehab the key is to take things slowly and accept the process. That was a tough mental lesson for me. But I've always been interested in Eastern philosophy, so yoga will make it a lot easier for me to engage with that process of slowly pushing your body while being aware of and accepting your current limits, and the exercises will really help me overcome the tightness in my hammys and hips too, so it should be a big help to preventing the problem recurring. I hope you've found yoga really useful to you, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI do 2 classes a week, but would like to do more, but time and cash a factor.
ReplyDelete@Erica Price It's great that you want to be able to practice more. Yoga classes can be very expensive from what I've seen, so this would be perfect! Good Luck! x
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to try yoga, heard so many benefits of it! But due to the cost of classes and the fact I'm too shy I've never tried it. This would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love yoga but my local gym only does daytime classes which is no good to me as I work full time
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to try Yoga as I have been told it could really help with my Fibromyalgia and M.E. However, I have been unable to physically get to classes so the Yoga Collective would be perfect for me and hopefully get my health under better control, which I really want to do for the sake of my three young children.
ReplyDelete@Sarah Franks For sure, practice everyday :) Gives me a sense of clarity after a stressful day and pretty much goes hand in hand with running for stretching out so its great :)
ReplyDeleteI'm currently trying to do 30 minutes of yoga every day for 50 days using moves learnt from classes and youtube videos, so this sounds like a great idea for motivation and inspiration!
