WestRun London // Training Diary // Week 2 Recap
10/19/2015
Ugh.. This week has been a right mix! Training definitely didn't go to plan this week. If you follow me on Instagram.. you probably know all about this! If not - a quick catch up!
I've been house and dog sitting this week and it's been an absolute nightmare for the most part - I've been so busy and stressed out. I knew that I might have had to change around a couple of runs this week but didn't know that I'd probably be nothing like what I had planned.
With that said, I did run 5 times last week even though it wasn't exactly to schedule, so something was better than nothing!
Let me tell you what I did..
Week 2 Training Schedule
All bar Sundays run was with the dog as I was running late and I figured it would be more beneficial and less time consuming to run her than to walk her.
Turns out the former is correct. It's definitely still beneficial for me to go for a run than it is for me to walk.. BUT, it's probably not that much faster. Risky gets excited to go out for a run - She's hyper for the first 5 minutes of a run... and then she just wants to stop and sniff or pee... or do anything OTHER than run - which is a complete nightmare! So, I got some mileage in, but there was no chance of any speed in there.
Sunday was obviously my best run this week. I decided to go for 4 miles(out 2 miles, back to miles). I wanted to run the first 2 miles at race pace and then slow it down for the last 2 miles back. My desired race pace at this current time is to be able to do 10 min/mi the whole way round.
My pace for the 4 mikes was an avg pace of 9:28 which I'm pretty stoked with. If I could comfortably run a 10 km under 10 min/mi I'd be ecstatic!

Week 3 Training Schedule
Day Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday | Scheduled REST - Juice Cleanse REST - Juice Cleanse REST - Juice Cleanse Rest/CT/Short Run Hill Run Park Run / Tempo 3-5 miles |
I mentioned in my blog post yesterday that I'd be doing a juice cleanse at the start of this week(which is going great BTW!). So I'll only be doing 3 runs this week which is totally fine with me.
I'm travelling to my parents on early Thursday morning, so I'll be running whilst I'm there. I'll either do a shorter run - or just chill out and catch up with the family.
On Friday - I'll go out in the morning and do some hills! My parents live in the North West - and there's some pretty major hills near where they live, so that should be interesting!
Phillip and I are planning on doing the Preston Park run for the first time. I have no idea where it is so hopefully it wont be too hard to find! There will probably be a fair few hills in the park too but we'll see - it's been ages since I've been to the park so I can't even remember it!
On Sunday - I'll just go out for whatever I feel like I think. Between 3 and 5 is completely OK with me and I'll probably try and do the same as what I did this past Sunday and run the first 2 miles at Tempo.
As long as I run whilst I'm away, it's all good! I'll make it happen. Plus.. I'm pretty pumped for a different park run!
Question: Have you ever done a park run? What do you like about them?

Gotta love parkrun! My local one is in a really lovely setting (Killerton House - a National Trust property), and the people are all really lovely. I'm always one of the last runners through, and people stay to cheer on the slower ones which I think is nice. Hope you enjoy Preston! x
ReplyDeleteI'm travelling home from uni this weekend and I'm looking forward to running our local parkrun with my Dad. I haven't been following a training plan at the moment as I haven't found a race yet so not been running as much as I want to so Saturday morning may be hard!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with yours! Love hearing how your training is going!
@Steph Yes, I've found this! No matter what park run ive been to, everyone has always been welcoming and lovely. Your local park run sounds lovely! :)
ReplyDelete@Beth Morris Hope you managed to get round to doing the park run with your Dad! :) I always find that I dont run as much as I do when I train... which is hard as I use running to keep the weight off(and allow myself to eat more).. so I always have to find a race to be training for, haha!
